A mind-numbing read if ever there was one

DHCP added

I inspected the DHCP server configuration in the Linksys router and found that the default time is 0 which provides for one day.
I plan to set a time of 3 days initially, just in case the DHCP server goes down. Then, I’d like to play with the time being much smaller so I can monitor the various DHCP broadcast messages. Also, I want to set up some reservations and mess around with the DHCP database.
I occurred to me to use the .69 server since it’s slow and doesn’t have much to do. Maybe in the future set it up as a WINS server, too.
Went to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Add/Remove Windows Components, Network, DHCP and installed the DHCP service. I’ll use the mostly unused scope of 192.168.1.32-192.168.1.63
All seemed to go well. Details to follow.
